wow i have been reading the man pages for this tool, and it is sooo great, there are tons of things that you can do with it, and it helps you test your firewall quite well :D

but i expect it wont be long before i am getting an email from the IS department for port scanning the whole network :P

so has anyone else used nmap before ??

what do you think of it ??

hell yeah! it's a great program. have you tried "nmapfe" too? it the GUI for nmap, which is incredibly useful if you quickly need to do something without reading the man page to discover the 18 parameters you need to feed it!

nah don't have that installed, well not yet anyway :P

nmap's interactive mode is nice so your parameters etc don't show up in process lists...
