Hi:

Let's me tell you what's going on...... my Hard Disk doesn't work any more time..... when i turn on my pc, it stops before my HD starts... yesterday i put another HD in my pc that it had a virus in itself.. that's way i think that i got a virus in my HD..... the question is:

how can i take out the virus from my HD without loss my data??

first of all, all this talk of virii makes me wonder if this is related to unix or linux at all, but i don't suppose it matters, since you posted in the hardware forum :D

First of all, a virus can not actually break hardware. A virus can overwrite the boot sectors of hard drives if it wants to, but it cannot break physical hardware.

is your hard drive actually broken, or does your machine just not boot up?

Hard drives usually make a whirring sound........ if the hard drive does not make any kind of sound or vibration then it is most likely a hardware defect.

If the hard drive has had its boot sector over written then the drive will not boot. Does your PC get to the POST screen??
