Searching for documents that might help
I got a drive from a friend and he is not sure what version of Solaris ( probably 9) is on it. I just bought a Netra t1 off Ebay and I got the following when I attempted to boot from the drive. Netra t1 (UltraSPARC-IIi 360MHz), No Keyboard OpenBoot 3.10.24 ME, 320 MB memory installed, Serial #11064828. Ethernet address 8:0:20:a8:d5:fc, Host ID: 80a8d5fc.Boot device: none File and args: Evaluating: bootCan't open boot deviceok:unsure: I know this is probably a simple issue so any feedback or direction to a good white paper would be appreciated. zfrugal This post has been edited by fishsponge on Apr 14 2004, 11:24 AM |

What did you type at the ok prompt? Since, your system is used and we don't know the state it's in you can:
ok set-defaults ok setenv auto-boot? false ok reset-all When the system comes back to the OBP prompt, you should type one of these (depending on the slot you used for the disk) ok boot disk ok boot disk1 You might have other issues as well ... what kind of system did the disk come out of? |

for some reason, you created a Poll, and added half your information as options to be voted on... i have removed the poll and added the information into your first post.
Please let me know via pm if you really did want this to be a poll(?). |

Hi - I'm having a similar problem with my OBP - I've got an Ultra 10 (my first SPARC platform!) and I've put 2 x 9GB disks and 1 x 80GB disk in it, as well as a CDRW drive. They are arranged as so:
Device 0: 80GB hard disk Device 1: CDRW drive Device 2: 9GB disk Device 3: 9GB disk if I do: ok probe-ide then I get the correct information as above. However, I am unable to boot from CDROM. ok boot cdrom gives me: Can't open boot device I've tried running: ok set-defaults ok reset-all and it still doesn't work. ok show-disks tells me that I have a CDROM, a hard disk and a floppy installed - I am not sure if I am reading this right? (am a total newbie when it comes to openboot - have no prior knowledge!) So in closing - can someone tell me how to get this so that I can boot from the CDROM, and have all the hard disks available for the install? Cheers! |

Make sure there's noting wrong with the boot CD. That is, it needs to be bootable and support your hardware, etc
