Hello,
I'm having a problem connecting my SPARCStation 20 to my Windows 2000 AS machine. Due to lack of funds for a decent monitor, I've got to use XFree86 server on the Win2K machine to display the environment on the SPARCStation. I've installed Solaris, and I can ping the SPARCStation from the Win2K machine. However, my SPARCStation cannot ping or telnet to the Win2K machine. They both have IP addresses in the same range and I've entered the Win2K machine's name and IP address in the /etc/hosts file. I'm now trying to install GNOME and can't because it wants a display - which I can't give it cos I can't telnet onto the Win2K machine. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance :) Grav |

ok... sounds like a routing problem to me...... check "/etc/defaultrouter" and "/etc/resolv.conf". Mine look like this:
192.168.254.254 is the IP address is my ADSL router (also my DNS server and gateway). let us know if this helps!! :D |

This has also happened to me on an SS5 running Sol7 and with Sol9. No activity, no link light, nothing, then it starts working...
